Songs from The Wild Shore

30 May @ 10:00 am - 12:30 pm

Free

A wave of entertainment will break over North Devon this summer – and it all starts this month with FREE music workshops during half-term!

The Wild Shore promises to soak audiences in excitement, intrigue, song and swims – all within the North Devon Coast National Landscape.

The Wild Shore is a magical, marine, multi-event participatory experience running from May through to October, created by acclaimed outdoor theatre specialists Burn the Curtain in partnership with Beaford Arts.

The production’s packed programme of events – including outdoor theatre shows, wild swims with wild stories and ‘treasure-making’ workshops – begins with two FREE music sessions in the North Devon village of Alwington this month, where participants create songs and music for The Wild Shore programme.

The Songs from The Wild Shore is a creative workshop of music-making inspired by the sea. Compose original pieces that will become part of a live outdoor theatre show. These workshops offer space to collaborate, experiment, and respond to the rhythms of the coast with an experienced folk composer. Bring your own instrument (or just your voice!), and your musical imagination.

This workshop is open to anyone with some musical experience – whether you play an instrument or sing. You don’t need to be a professional (although professionals are very much welcomed), just comfortable exploring and creating music with others.

The workshop is led by North Devon musician Becki Driscoll.

The Wild Shore is funded by Arts Council England, Beaford Arts, Rootnotes and The Fenton Arts Trust.
