TAVISTOCK RNLI 200TH ANNIVERSARY GOLF DAY
Enjoy a round of golf at Tavistock Golf Club in the beautiful surroundings of Dartmoor while raising money for, and celebrating, the RNLI’s 200th anniversary.
To help celebrate the RNLI’s 200th anniversary, Tavistock Golf Club is kindly hosting a charity golf day for the Tavistock Branch of the RNLI. The event will take place on Thursday 18th July, with tee-off times from 10am to 2pm choosable on the entry form. (These may be extended if entry numbers require it.)
Teams of 3, of any ability, can take part in the competition and the fee per team is £135. This includes a one course meal, also choosable on the entry form, and prize giving. The first prize is £75, second £50 and third £25, all sponsored by TH March Ltd.
There will be a raffle and an RNLI sales stall in attendance and Burts Crisps have donated packets for midway refreshment.
With its wide fairways and sweeping vistas the course looks deceptively simple but it offers a challenging test for the unwary golfer. Nature has provided its own hazards at Tavistock, with thick gorse and bracken, plus the odd clump of scrubby trees. There are also cunningly hidden bunkers that can trap the most proficient golfer. The thin soil not only provides tight lies, it also makes for fast greens.
The golf club is at Down Road, Tavistock, PL19 9AQ.
Entry forms and further information are available from Tony Sherlock at anthony.sherlock@hotmail.co.uk or on 07885 064879.
This is a very special year for the RNLI, as it is exactly 200 years since it was founded by Sir William Hillary. Since then the charity has pioneered developments in lifesaving at sea and their lifesavers have shown unfailing courage and selflessness.
Lifeboat crews and lifeguards are known for their courage. But none of their incredible rescues would be possible without the kindness shown by the public. Since 1824, the kit, training, lifeboats and fuel they’ve needed to save lives has been funded by kind donations.
With your support, this story of kindness can continue.
