The exciting new eatery will be based at 35 South Street and will replace Spanish restaurant El Bocado which closed earlier this year.

Offering authentic Greek cuisine, the owners will be hoping to bring an Aegean feel to the city.

Arti Hazhaj, 39, who will run the venue with friend and businesses partner Alex Bersha, said: “We hope to bring a taste of Greece to Exeter and make people feel like they are on holiday there.

“Whether they are about to go on holiday to Greece or maybe when people get back and get holiday blues, this place will make them feel like they are back out there.

“We’re really excited about this.

“Everything we’ll have here is authentic, from the olive oil we use to the dolma and even the coffee as well.”

The owners are yet to come up with a name for the restaurant which will have 50 covers in total.

They will be looking to build upon the successes of their previous ventures, including another Greek restaurant in Newton Abbot which closed 14 years ago.

Currently, the pair also run the popular Broad Street Café in Ottery St Mary.

“We were going to open the restaurant there [in Ottery St. Mary] but when this venue became available we had to take it,” Mr Hazhaj said.
